LOGOS MUTANT IN SHORT
Logos Mutant, European Contemporary Fashion, was a video-installation for the Wien Fashion Week and the fashion trade fairs Bread and Butter in Barcelona and Berlin. The exhibition was promoted by Bread and Butter (Barcelona/Berlin) and Unit f (Wien). Logos Mutant examined the aesthetic concepts and network strategies of a new generation of fashion designers that shaped 90's fashion: Hussein Chalayan, Martin Margiela, Walter van Beirendonck, later followed by Raf Simons, Bless or Wendy & Jim just to name a few.
Over one year fashion critic Diane Pernet interviewed more than eighty selected personalities from the world of fashion in seven diferent european cities. The answers were presented on a looped circle of video monitors in the BBB.studio.03. The viewpoints (sometimes contradictory) were juxtaposed without further comment, challenging the observer to compare the diversity of positions. Such direct comparability is unique, almost outrageous, in view of the fact that the portfolio of participants consists exclusively of recognized experts.
